Background
You've been waiting for the right moment, the right mood, the right amount of energy. This short spoken-word talk is a warm push to stop waiting and take the first small step – right now.

You've been waiting to feel ready.
Waiting for more energy. More time. A clearer head. A better Monday.
And the thing you want to do is still sitting there. Waiting with you.
Here's something nobody tells you often enough.
Feeling ready almost never comes first.
It comes after you start.
Motivation is not the fuel. It's the exhaust. It shows up once the engine is already running.
Think about the last time you went for a run when you didn't feel like it.
The first minute was awful. Heavy legs. Every excuse in your head.
And then, somewhere around the corner at the end of the street, something changed.
Your breath found a rhythm. Your head cleared. You were glad you went.
The run didn't need you to be ready. It only needed you to put your shoes on.
Or think about that email you've been avoiding.
It feels huge. But the first sentence is just one sentence.
"Hi, I wanted to follow up on…"
And once that line is written, the second one is easier. And the third.
Big things are just a lot of small things, done one at a time.
So here's what I'd like you to do.
Pick the thing. You already know which one it is.
Now make it smaller. So small it's almost silly.
Not "write the report." Just open the document.
Not "get fit." Just put on your trainers.
Not "sort my life out." Just clear one corner of the desk.
Give it ten minutes. Set a timer if you like.
After ten minutes, you're allowed to stop.
But you probably won't want to.
You don't need to be fearless.
You don't need to be perfect.
You don't need to have it all worked out.
You only need to begin.
One step. One sentence. One minute.
That's how every good thing you've ever done started.
So take a breath.
And start.
